Mr. Dean’s Fire and Ice Pickles
Note: Use Kosher Dill Pickles PSST brand. Cost $1.60 per quart. Sold at Kroger, Walmart, etc.
2 32oz jars of dill pickles
4 cups sugar
2 tablespoons hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper flakes
1 garlic clove
Cut pickles into large chunks and combine with sugar, hot sauce, and pepper flakes in a large bowl. Stir well. Cover and let set about 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Spoon into quart or pint jars. Add a garlic clove to each jar. Put lid on and store in refrigerator. All flavors blend in if you leave 3-7 days in the refrigerator before eating.
